Coverages

You have access to three medical plans: a PPO plan, an HMO plan, and two HSA-eligible plans. And depending on where you live, you have access to Cigna, Kaiser Permanente, or both provider networks.

Overview of coverages.

Each plan provides a range of coverage levels and costs, including preventive care covered at 100%, prescription drug coverage, and the protection of an out-of-pocket maximum – a feature that limits what you pay in any year if you have large medical expenses.

Prescription drugs

Prescription drug coverage comes with every Western Union medical plan and is provided by Cigna or Kaiser – depending on the medical plan you elect. The amount you pay depends on which medical plan you choose and where you purchase the prescription (retail drug store or mail order).

Save money with generic drugs

Switching from brand-name drugs to generic, when appropriate, can save you money. Oftentimes, generics work just as well as brand-name drugs – at a fraction of the cost. For example, a 30-day supply of Crestor, a cholesterol-lowering medication, costs nearly $400. Its generic equivalent costs under $10! Ask your doctor if it’s possible to switch your prescriptions from brand-name drugs to generic.
